Awe

Look at the meadow bursting with flowers

unable to contain its joy.

Look at the power of the Divine

turning senseless dust into a sublime painting!

Walking Meditation

I'm fortunate to live in a place that has numerous paths to walk in a natural quiet setting. I found this one and it is the path I use to do walking meditation. Touching the Earth in Her Sacredness gently; no rush; no goal to get anywhere; no time limits; just simple walking. When I catch my mind wondering off The Path (thinking about the past, or fantasizing/planning for the future) I stop and breathe bringing myself back to the present moment. That's it. Easy. Sometimes I add a thought or mantra when I stop and breathe. "Toward Oneness"; "May Peace Prevail on Earth"; are just suggestions. I'm sure you can discover a path where you live that can bring you peace as well.

Ancient and inexhaustible

"In this world hate never yet dispelled hate.

Only love dispelled hate.

This is the law.

Ancient and inexhaustible.'

Loving kindness

"Love something and watch it blossom." Michael Murphy

This includes You. Directing loving kindness toward yourself, all parts of yourself, including the wounded and defended parts. The shadow parts, the fears, the inadequacies all need your kindness. Make room in your heart for your own humanness. How else can we travel on the path of compassion?

Valentines Day

Love the whole world as if it were your self

then you will truly care for all things. The Tao

All this talk of emptiness

The Tao says:

Thirty spokes are joined together in a wheel,
but it is the center hole that allows the wheel to function.

We mold clay into a pot, but it is the emptiness inside that makes the vessel useful.

We fashion wood for a house, but it is the emptiness inside that makes it livable.

All this talk of emptiness
Empty of what?

A separate self.

The Fountain of Joy

"I slept and dreamt life was joy.

I woke and found life was service.

I acted and behold, service was joy.'

Imbolc Eve

Feburary 2nd marks Lunar Imbolc, Midwinter, in the Sacred Circle/Cycle of the year. Also known as Candlemas. The theme of this ancient holy day encompasses healing, childbirth, purification, prophecy. Our agricultural earthy grandmothers noticed it was the time when the first milk flowed from the sheep as they were preparing to give birth. The Goddesses associated with this holiday include Brighid (goddess of smithcraft, poetry, and healing); the Virgin Mary (who went to the temple for purification 40 days after giving birth); and Great Mother Bhride who is called upon by women in childbirth.
At this tipping point of winter reflect on what is waiting to be "birthed" by you? What energy is bubbling up from your dreams that will bring healing and hope to All Our Relatives?
