Feburary 2nd marks Lunar Imbolc, Midwinter, in the Sacred Circle/Cycle of the year. Also known as Candlemas. The theme of this ancient holy day encompasses healing, childbirth, purification, prophecy. Our agricultural earthy grandmothers noticed it was the time when the first milk flowed from the sheep as they were preparing to give birth. The Goddesses associated with this holiday include Brighid (goddess of smithcraft, poetry, and healing); the Virgin Mary (who went to the temple for purification 40 days after giving birth); and Great Mother Bhride who is called upon by women in childbirth.
At this tipping point of winter reflect on what is waiting to be "birthed" by you? What energy is bubbling up from your dreams that will bring healing and hope to All Our Relatives?
